The method involves delivering an update message to a gateway (2) by an administrative host (4). Reader firmware updating data are sent to the gateway by the administrative host. The updating data are sent to a set of radio frequency identification (RFID) readers (1a, 1b, 1c) by the gateway, where each RFID reader is connected with the host by the gateway and a network system (3). The updating data are stored in a firmware data storage section of a memory device by a microprocessor connected with a radio-frequency transceiver module. The update messages are error verification code, version number of updating data and length of updating data.
