<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vane rotary type compressor with low noise and high salability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The vane rotary type compressor includes a cylinder 3 having a cylindrical hollow part thereinside, a substantially cylindrical rotor 4 in which at least one portion on an outer peripheral part is rotatably disposed near an inner wall face of the cylinder 3, a vane 5 slidably inserted into a vane groove 4b of the rotor 4 with a distal end abutted on the inner wall face of the cylinder 3 and partitioning a compression space formed between the cylinder 3 and the rotor 4 into at least a suction space 19 and a discharge space 20, and a suction hole 10 communicated with the suction space 19 and a discharge hole 11 communicated with the discharge space 20. By providing a spring 6a in the vane groove 4b of the rotor 4, the compressor having high salability capable of preventing a late start of the vane 5 at start of the compressor can be constituted.
