<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam generation amount calculating method calculating a steam generation amount without requiring large-scale construction even in an boiler in operation. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The steam boiler 1 carrying out the supply of steam by carrying out the combustion of fuel and generating heat is provided with an exhaust gas flow velocity meter 3 using a pitot tube measuring total pressure and static pressure in a flue 2 passing combustion exhaust gas of the boiler 1 and measuring exhaust gas flow velocity in the flue from a difference of the total pressure and the static pressure, and an exhaust gas thermometer 4 measuring a temperature of the combustion exhaust gas. A fuel amount used of the steam boiler is calculated by computing by a value measured by a measuring device and a characteristic value of the steam boiler, and the steam generation amount is calculated by using the fuel amount used determined by the computing.
