PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce damage generated by hitting of a holder of a liquid level sensor onto the edge of an insertion port provided on a fuel tank, and to prevent contact of a holder with the edge of the insertion port. SOLUTION: This sensor includes: a frame 2; a holder 3 rotatably supported on the frame 2, having a portion projecting from the frame 2, and storing a magnet; a magnetic detection element fixed to the frame 2 oppositely to the magnet, for detecting a rotation phase of the magnet by a change of a magnetic flux density; a float arm 6 whose one end is mounted on a mounting part 60 of the holder; and a float 7 mounted on the other end of the float arm 6. The sensor is configured such that the float arm 6 is rocked by vertical movement of the float 7 to rotate the holder 3. The frame 2 includes a projecting member 8 arranged out of a rocking range of the float arm 6 on the furthermore float 7 side than the outer periphery of the holder 3, and the projecting member 8 is formed so that a height projecting from the frame 2 is higher than the holder 3.
