<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum unit in which, a drive gear is sufficiently protected to be securely prevented from being damaged, and a shaft supporting an idle gear is formed integrally with a drum bush, to reduce the number of components and costs. <P>SOLUTION: The drum unit 1 is attachable to or detachable from the body of the image forming apparatus, an end in the axial direction of a photoreceptor drum is rotatably supported by a drum bush (bush member) 12, and the drive gear 11 is connected to the one end of the photoreceptor drum. In the drum unit 1, a protective cover 12A covering part of the periphery of the drive gear 11 is integrally formed with the drum bush 12.
