PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent frequent switching of a main face and allow switching to a face applicable as the main face when a face is detected from face images taken one by one. SOLUTION: An imaging device selects a main face from detected faces based on a priority level calculated for each face detected from face images taken one by one. The imaging device compares the priority level of a face corresponding to a most recently selected main face with the priority level of a face corresponding to another face, and for each of the other faces, counts the number of times the priority level of the face corresponding to another face exceeds that of the face corresponding to the main face.
