<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protecting device for a vehicle for constraining a head of an occupant irrespective of the existence of door glass at a collision. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The occupant protecting device 10 for the vehicle includes a film body 20 formed of a film, a cloth, or a mesh, and an elastic rod 22 supporting at least a part of an edge of the film body 20. The elastic rod 22 and the film body 20 are normally positioned at an outer side in a vehicle width direction of a seat back 12 and/or an upper part of the seat back 12, and paid out to an outer side in the vehicle width direction of a headrest 14 and/or forward of an outer side in the vehicle width direction of the headrest 14 upon the vehicle collision. A traveling member 38 such as an actuator is provided with the occupant protecting device 10 for the vehicle. The occupant protecting device 10 for the vehicle includes the elastic rod 22, and the film body 20 is stretched and supported by the elastic rod 22, and therefore, the film body 20 can constrain the head A of the occupant irrespective of the existence of the door glass at the collision.
