PURPOSE: A friction material composition for a brake pad is provided to secure a stable frictional coefficient regardless of use environment including sudden braking and high speed braking and to reduce production cost while obtaining fade resistance and abrasion resistance. CONSTITUTION: A friction material composition for a brake pad includes binder 6~8 weight%, abrasive 17~22 weight%, lubricant 15~20 weight%, enhanced fiber 20~25 weight%, filler 10~15 weight%, and additive 10~15 weight%. The binder is a modified phenol resin. The abrasive includes one or more which are selected from a group comprising Al_2O_3, ZrSiO_4, SiC, SiO_2, and MgO.
