PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow position detection to be accurately carried out without being adversely affected by a driving signal for displaying an image even when a sensor for position detection is incorporated in a display section.

SOLUTION: A display is provided, which has: a display section 10 having a plurality of pixels provided in a region where a TFT substrate 1 and a counter substrate 2 are disposed opposite to each other; a sensor section 11 having a switch, provided in the region where the TFT substrate 1 and the counter substrate 2 are disposed opposite to each other, the switch having two electrodes closed by a pressure from outside; a detecting section 30 comparing a signal from the switch with a reference signal to determine whether the switch is closed or not; and a precharge section applying a precharge potential to a wiring in continuity with one of the electrodes of the switch prior to the detection at the detecting section 30.
