PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the processing speed in executing prescribed control. SOLUTION: A VDP 105 of a display control device 100 creates image-drawing data for an image-drawing area 135 based on an image-drawing command from a display CPU 102. Image data to be processed in creating the image-drawing data are previously stored in a character ROM 106. The image data stored in the character ROM 106 are read out into a bridge-side RAM 107 and a VDP-side RAM 108 via a bridge LSI 109, and the VDP 105 creates the image-drawing data by processing the image data read into the RAMs 107 and 108. In this embodiment, if a prescribed image is displayed, image data corresponding to the image to be displayed after the prescribed image are stored in an area different from the area in which the image data corresponding to the prescribed image are stored in the RAMs 107 and 108.
