<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect whether or not a vehicle runs off a proper stop range in the lateral direction of the vehicle irrespective of the type of the vehicle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This monitoring system of a multistory parking garage includes a mounting means 8 for mounting the vehicle which has advanced from an entrance 18 to a loading part 17 and detection means 49, 50 for detecting whether or not the vehicle which have advanced to the loading part 17 runs off a predetermined range in the lateral direction of the vehicle. The detection means 49, 50 includes a photoelectronic sensor 59 which emits the inspection light passing through the side of the mounting means 8 and an opposed member 60 which receive or reflect the light emitted from the photoelectric sensor 59. The photoelectronic sensor 59 is disposed at the entrance 18 side lower part of the loading part 17 swingably around the lateral axis and can vertically scan the inspection light.
