PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly discriminate the number of bits of an audio code in each class. SOLUTION: A receiving device includes: a receiving means for receiving and demodulating a signal modulated by variable-length data including error-detecting data; an error-detecting means for sequentially selecting a plurality of data-length candidates, extracting the demodulated signals only by the selected data length, and performing error detection using the error-detecting data; and a determining means for determining each data-length candidate as the variable data length, when no error is detected by the error-detection means.
