PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing electrolytic water, in which born/propagated viable bacteria or the like can be removed surely and water passage portions can be kept hygienic. SOLUTION: Purified water is supplied to an electrolytic cell 6 from a purified water storage part 1b through an introduction line changeover valve 15 by using a pump 13. Electrolysis is performed in the electrolytic cell 6 by supplying a positive voltage to a cathode 8 and a negative voltage to an anode 9. The alkaline ionized water produced in a cathode chamber 6a is returned to the purified water storage part 1b through a water discharge line 11a, a water discharge line changeover valve 12 and another water discharge line 11b. The acidic ionized water produced in an anode chamber 6b is discharged to a waste water tank 21 through a waste water line 10. After electrolysis is performed for a predetermined time, the introduction line changeover valve 15 is changed over to the side of a discharge line 14 and the water discharge line changeover valve 12 is changed over to the side of the waste water line 10, the pump 13 is stopped and the polarities of the voltages supplied respectively to the cathode 8 and the anode 9 are reversed by a polarity changeover part 20.
