An optical disc device is provided with: an optical head (114) which irradiates a loaded optical disc (101) with a laser beam, detects the reflection light of the laser beam, and outputs reflection light signals; a laser drive circuit (135) which applies a laser drive current to the optical head (114); drive control units (136, 137) which transmit laser drive signals having high-frequency signals superimposed thereon to the laser drive circuit (135); and a control unit (127) which controls the operations of the drive control units (136, 137). The control unit (127) sets the amplification and/or frequency of the high-frequency signals to be superimposed on the laser drive signals, corresponding to the number of the recording layers of the optical disc (101).
