PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system to provide light only at necessity not only by detecting presence of a person but also predicting a degree of interest for an exhibit based on a progress of visitors to the exhibit. SOLUTION: A person moving in a detecting region Rs at a prescribed speed or more is not to be an object and on the contrary a lighting control is conducted only when a person moving at less than the prescribed speed or staying is detected. In the illumination system which is composed of an illumination fixture 400, an image sensor 100, and a computing part 200 and a controlling part 300 for conducting illumination control of the illumination fixture based on an image information obtained by the image sensor 100, the computing part 200 is composed of a standard image information memorizing part 201 for memorizing the standard image information and a superimposed information memorizing part 205 which memorizes a differential information between the obtained image information and the standard image information, especially, a superimposed image information obtained by superimposing information arising from a presence of a person, and the controlling part conducts a lighting control of the illumination fixture based on the number of pixels (area) of the superimposed portion in a prescribed number of times of superimposition.
