<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier roller capable of improving carrying accuracy, by eliminating the slip of a recording sheet, by improving outer diameter accuracy in a roller contacting with the recording sheet. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This carrier roller 14 sandwiches and carries the recording sheet 12 with a nip with a driven roller 15. An annular recessed groove 28 in the same direction as the rotational direction is formed on the peripheral surface of a columnar member 25, and a friction member 31 composed of a ring-shaped elastic material is installed in the recessed groove, and the outer peripheral surface of the friction member is formed higher than the peripheral surface of the columnar member.
