<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably inspect the display content of a sign board etc. such as, the number plate of an automobile in the form of delivery by an image processing technique. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A sign board to be inspected is imaged by a series of imaging processes, on the basis of preset production data; the sign board to be inspected is collated and verified as to whether the sign board to be inspected is indicated by the production data; and the data for management is generated through the use of sign board data, generated as a result of the collation in a sign board inspection method. More specifically, the sign board inspection method includes a housing process for housing a plurality of sign boards, in a state that characters and figures in the surfaces of the plurality of the sign boards are simultaneously imaged, in a housing bag having a structure capable of imaging a housed object from the outside; an imaging process for simultaneously imaging the characters and the figures in the surfaces of the plurality of the sign boards; and a determination process for analyzing the picked-up images and determining whether prescribed characters and prescribed figures are marked in each of the plurality of the sign boards.
