PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propulsion system for a vertical takeoff and landing ducted-fan aircraft. SOLUTION: The propulsion system includes an internal combustion engine, an electric motor including a motor generator, a motor drive device, and a battery. The motor drive device and the battery are incorporated in the aircraft to supply power to the ducted-fan aircraft. The electric motor can include a ring motor generator.
