A method of providing device inputs relating to displayed visual content comprises illuminating gestures performed by a user's hand 24 in front of a background surface 22 with at least one infrared (IR) light source 16,18. Cameras 12,14 acquire first and second sets of silhouette images based on an IR light contrast between the hand and the background surface. Based upon the parallax separation of corresponding silhouette images, a plurality of three-dimensional features of the hand are determined and compared with a plurality of predefined gesture inputs in gesture library 36. This enables determination of a gesture and corresponding device input to which the three-dimensional features relate. Accordingly, the selected device input is triggered, corresponding to an interaction with displayed visual content. The displayed visual content may be provided, for example, by projector 30. The method enables a user to interact with displayed content in a touch-free manner. |
