PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera capable of properly controlling operations of a body device depending on whether or not an operating unit is attached on a stand device, in a state where the unit can be operated, and improving its usability. SOLUTION: This camera can be attached on the stand device in two ways. In a first way, the operating unit is brought into an operable state while the unit is exposed to the outside; and in a second way, the operating unit is brought into an operable state, while the unit is concealed from the outside. In detecting the attaching state of the camera on the stand device by a control signal from a connection detecting unit 124, a system controller 116 also detects the attaching method from this control signal, and executes operation control so that an operation mode with interposition of the operation of the operating unit is set in the case of the first method and an operation, without interposition of the operation of the operation unit is set in the case of the second method.
