<p>A method of processing a thermoset material and an apparatus 15 for the same are disclosed. The method comprises the steps of providing a mixture of particles of a thermoset material and a flow agent, said flow agent having a melting temperature below a pyrolysis temperature of the thermoset material, heating said mixture of particles to at least said melting temperature to cause said flow agent to become a fluid and forcing said fluid containing said thermoset material through a die to cause a rise in temperature to about said pyrolysis temperature. Preferably, the thermoset material is waste vulcanised rubber, whereas the flow agent may comprise at least one of low or high density polyethylene, ethylene vinyl acetate, silicone or polyvinyl acetate. The apparatus comprises a container, heater, a die and a forcing mechanism operable to force the fluid containing the thermoset material through the die.</p> |
