A co-location insensitive multi-band antenna (406) is co-located with a second antenna (204) operated at another band, and minimizes interference from the second antenna. The co-location insensitive multi-band antenna (406) provides a compact design that may be printed on a printed wiring board ''PWB'' (408), on a case of a radio, such as a cellular telephone or may be self supporting. In general, the desired in-band performance and out-of-band signal rejection may be achieved by a meander line (404) coupled to a upper band patch (402). The meander line (404) provides a good lower band match, and the upper band patch tends to provide a good high band match, or resonance. The upper band patch also causes a sharp roll off in return loss before the high band, that rejects frequencies from the co-located second antenna transmitting below the high band. |
