Polymer surfaces with high network density and corresponding production of same

摘要

Chemical resistant polymer surface, which has an increased crosslinking density, a higher molecular weight, and reduced free volumes, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) the preparation of the polymer surface with high crosslinking density for improving the properties such as surface hardness, chemical resistance and weather resistance, comprising irradiation of the polymer surface with photons, which have energies of 4-10 eV; and (2) use of the process for producing the polymer surfaces by mercury-UV lamps for curing and 172 nm excimer lamps for post-curing the polymer surface to improve the properties of the polymer surfaces such as surface hardness, chemical resistance and weather resistance.
