A flexible joint for ducting comprises metal bellows 1, having a restraining member 8 extending axially therethrough and secured relative to the bellows at both ends thereof, the member 8 being capable of flexing readily, relative to the bellows, in one direction only, and a coupling secured externally to each end of the bellows, the coupling permitting the flexing but substantially precluding relative torsional movement of the bellows ends. Member 8 may be as described in Specification 863,260. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, cylindrical covers 11, 12 have flanges 11a, 12a secured to end rings 4, 5 welded to the bellows ends and to lengths of ducting 6, 7. A flexible metal annulus 13 is bolted to a pair of lugs 11c on cover 11 and to a pair of lugs 12c on cover 12, the two pairs of lugs being displaced by 90 degrees. The annulus may be provided with a cover 14 for protection during transport. In a modification, Fig. 3, a flexible annulus 13 is secured to each end ring 4, 5 by pairs of lugs 4a, 5a which are displaced by 90 degrees from further pairs of lugs 15a on a cylindrical cover 15, to which lugs the rings are also secured.</p> |
