<p>A fibreglass pipe-shaped insulator 100 is manufactured by preparing a fibreglass needle mat (20, figure 1) by needle punching glass fibres, at least one surface of the fiberglass needle mat being coated with a binder prepared by mixing and agitating organic and inorganic substances, a fire retardant and water. The binder may also include a water repellent if required. The fiberglass needle mat (20, figure 2) is pressed by a pressing roller (40, figure 2) as it is wound on a forming roller (30, figure 2), and is dried prior to separation of the resulting pipe-shaped insulator 00 from the forming roller. A centre (longitudinal) cut 60 is made on the fiberglass pipe-shaped insulator 100 (figure 10), which is then covered on its outer circumferential surface with an aluminum glass cross tape 50 (figure 11) before performing side (end) cutting on the fiberglass pipe-shaped insulator (figure 12). In one embodiment, the needle mat (20, figure 9) is formed at opposite sides thereof with cutting faces (70a, 80a, figure 9) at unaligned positions. Therefore, as this mat is press rolled onto the forming roller, it can be formed with a recess 70 at one end and a projection 80 at the other end to couple adjacent pipe shaped insulators together.</p> |
