<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a drive transmission mechanism whose average stress and stress amplitude in drive transmission are small and whose service life is long, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the drive transmission mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The drive transmission mechanism comprises a shaft member 1 and a gear 10. A cut surface 3 is formed at the shaft end part 2 of the shaft member 1 so that its cross section may be D-shaped, and a snap fit part 5 having a pawl part 6 and a notch 7 are formed thereat. The gear 10 is fit in the shaft end part 2 by making its center hole 11 get over the pawl part 6 of the snap fit part 5.
