<p num="1"><br/><br/><br/> An impact adaptor to convert a rock drill to an <br/>impact driver is described. The impact adapter has a boom <br/>coupling for securing the adapter in co-operating alignment <br/>with the shank of a drifter. The adapter has a casing for <br/>slidingly receiving and guiding an anvil therein from a top <br/>open end of the casing. The casing has an open bottom end <br/>adapted for receiving a top end section of a pile, tube or <br/>rod in the casing. Anvil supports are provided in the <br/>casing for retaining the anvil captive therein in the <br/>absence of the top end section of the pile, tube or rod. <br/>The casing has a predetermined length above the anvil <br/>supports to permit captive displacement of the anvil and <br/>displacement of the top section of the pile, tube or rod <br/>therein. The impact adapter is secured to the drifter in a <br/>movable or immovable manner and compensates for wear of the <br/>shank.<br/>
