PURPOSE: A device and a method for optical gesture recognition are provided to track a motion of an object through a comparison of the first measured reflection level value at the first angle and the second angle in a processor, thereby distinguishing a gesture of the object corresponding to the tracked motion. CONSTITUTION: When the first light source(4) operates, the first light receiver(2) receives reflection light(R1) from the object(12). The light receiver outputs the first measured reflection level value corresponding to the size of the reflection light. A processor receives the first measured reflection level value. The processor tracks a motion of the object in comparison of the first measured reflection level value at the first angle and the second angle. The processor distinguishes a gesture of the object corresponding to a traced motion.
