A skate system for use in the support and movement of carrier beams supporting a house or building from one location to another location. Lower surfaces of the skates ride and reside on or above a skate beam. Each end of the skate features a tubular receiving member and an elongated rod on each opposed side edge, whereby, when it is desired to connect a plurality of skates together, the elongated rod of one skate can be inserted into a corresponding tubular receiving member of another skate. The skate may be moved along the skate beam utilizing hydraulic jacks or other means to propel the skate (and the house) along the skate beam. If necessary, runner beams can be connected to the skate beams to assist in moving the house or building from one location to another location. Preferred configurations of the skate, in a plurality of connected skates, can later allow for lateral movement and transfer of the skate, supporting the carrier beams underneath the house, onto the placement location or foundation.
