Between the deflector and the scanning surface there is a transmission-type image forming optical element and a reflection-type optical element which make up the optical image formation system. In the sub-scanning plane, the angle between the principal ray of the light beam reflected by the reflection-type optical element and the normal to the reflection-type optical element satisfies the condition ëñ45.
