PURPOSE: A composition for anti-cancer containing 4-hexylresorcinol-1,3-diol is provided to promote apoptosis and differentiation of cancer cells and to suppress tumor. CONSTITUTION: A composition for anti-cancer contains 4-hexylresorcinol-1,3-diol as an active ingredient. The 4-hexylresorcinol-1,3-diol is a non-isoprenoid lipid which exsits in various kinds of plants and bacteria. The composition is a pharmaceutical composition or food composition. The daily dose of the pharmaceutical composition is 0.001-200 mg/kg(body weight). The pharmaceutical composition is administered by oral and parentral method.
