PURPOSE: A broadcasting receiving apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to compare a time which shows recommendation information with a broadcasting time of a recommendation program included in the recommendation information, thereby providing a function with which a user can conveniently use the recommendation information. CONSTITUTION: Recommendation information about a broadcasting program is received(S1). Time when the recommendation information is shown is compared with a broadcast time of recommendation programs included in the recommendation information(S3). A function of the broadcasting receiving device for using the recommendation information is provided corresponding to the comparison result(S5,S7). The time for showing the recommendation information is a time for checking at least one of the recommendation programs.
