PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing polystyrenesulfonic acid metal salt is provided to easily suspend in water and to reduce rough texture. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition contains polystyrenesulfonic acid metal salt and xanthan gum which is a gelling agent. The composition is used in the form of powder, granule, or dry syrup. The composition additionally contains suspension which is not gelated in water. The gelling agent is magnesium aluminum silicate. A method for manufacturing powders, granules, or dry syrups containing polystyrenesulfonic acid metal salt comprises: a step of mixing polystyrenesulfonic acid metal salt and xanthan gum; a step of mixing ethanol or ethanol aqueous solution to manufacture a granule; and a step of drying the granule.
