<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal backlight capable of enhancing an illumination effect on a backside while ensuring high efficiency of using light. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal backlight 1 is configured by arranging an LED (light source) 4 oppositely to a thin end face 3a of a light guide plate 3, which is a light incident surface, arranging a condensing member 5 on a surface orthogonal to the light incident surface (end face) 3a of the light guide plate 3 and arranging a reflective sheet on the backside. In the backlight 1, a reflective sheet 20 with a light-guiding and light-emitting function is used as the reflective sheet, a transparent sheet 9 is arranged on the backside of a metal reflective sheet 6 of the reflective sheet 20 with the light-guiding and light-emitting function so that part of the transparent sheet is not overlapped to the metal reflective sheet 6, and part of light emitted from the LED 4 and guided to the light guide plate 3 is guided to the transparent sheet 9 to illuminate the backside. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
