<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas treatment catalyst which is a platinum alternating catalyst and makes combustion start temperature of a particulate substance equal to or lower than that of a platinum-based catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas treatment catalyst promotes the combustion of the particulate substance contained in an exhaust gas and comprises AxByOz or AxByCwOz. The compopnent A is any one of a transition metal, bismuth or zinc, the component B is a transition metal, and the component C is any one of a transition metal or gallium. The band gap of the AxByOz or the AxByCwOz is equal to or lower than 3.0 eV, and oxygen orbital content of a conductor band obtained by numerically expressing contribution ratio of an oxygen atom to an electronic state is averagely equal to or higher than 20% with respect to three electronic states having low energy level right above a Fermi level in the band structure of the AxByOz or the AxByCwOz. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
