<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an apparatus in size and cost by simplifying a configuration related to illumination of a document and simplifying processing procedures related to color correction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a single white light source 31; an illumination unit constituted of a single pillar-shaped light transmission body for emitting light, that is incident from the white light source to one end side in a length direction, from a side surface extending in a length direction and guiding the light to a document surface; a CCD 27 for receiving reflection light from the document surface and outputting an image signal; color correction sections 54, 55 for correcting the image signal output from the CCD in accordance with an individual difference in color characteristics between the white light source and the CCD; and a correction control section 71 for determining a correction coefficient for performing required correction in the color correction sections in accordance with the individual difference between the white light source and the CCD.
