<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device, obtaining the volumetric efficiency with good accuracy based on internal pressure of a cylinder to be reflected on the engine control. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An ECU 34 obtains volumetric efficiency using a predetermined arithmetic expression including parameters corresponding to a difference between the first and second cylinder pressures based on the first and second cylinder pressures, respectively detected by a cylinder pressure sensor 4 at first ad second crank angles before the combustion start of one combustion cycle when a selective cylinder of an engine 1 is in the compression stroke, and controls the engine according to a controlled variable preset based on the obtained volumetric efficiency.
