<p>Disclosed is a method of producing a wear resistant layer on a substantially planar metal surface which is directly impacted in a comminution process, such as the impact surface of a grinding roller. A plurality of spaced apart wear plates are applied to the metal surface. The wear plates are anchored to the metal surface by a metallic welding material that forms a weld bond with the metal surface and a mechanical bond with the wear plates.</p> |
