PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breaking of a recording head placed at an image forming section while occurring of a trouble of a paper sheet and to facilitate a work for removing a paper sheet staying on a transportation path in a printer such as an inkjet printer. SOLUTION: This transportation control mechanism includes a jam detecting section 331 for detecting floating of a paper sheet transported on the transportation path at the upstream side of a platen belt 160 on the transportation path, an image forming path CR1 that is included in the transportation path and allows a head unit 110 to perform forming of an image, a retracting mechanism that separates the platen belt 160 from the transportation path CR so as to retract the platen belt 160, and a paper discharging control section 334 that switches a discharging process of a paper sheet transported on the transportation path. When the jam detecting section 331 detects floating of a paper sheet, the paper discharging control section 334 causes the retracting mechanism to retract the platen belt 160 and to discharge the paper sheet in the transporting state on the retracted platen belt 160.
