<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of cleaning a battery case, the method preventing foreign matters from remaining in the battery case, and to provide a battery. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The battery has a drain hole 14 in a bottom part 12 of the battery case 1. When cleaning the inside of this battery case 1, an opening part 11 of the battery case 1 and the drain hole 14 are put in an opening state, and a cleaning liquid is introduced from the opening part 11. The cleaning liquid flows on a side surface or a bottom surface of the battery case 1, and is drained from the drain hole 14. Specifically, the cleaning liquid is drained from the drain hole 14 while being introduced from the opening part 11, and is penetrated through into the battery case 1. Thus, when cleaning the battery case 1, a flow of the cleaning liquid is generated in the battery case 1, and a sticking object 9 such as metallic foreign matter is discharged outside the battery case 1 together with the cleaning liquid.
