<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which effectively heats a liquid crystal layer by a heater to eliminate power loss, and a manufacturing method thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device 100 including a liquid crystal 50 held between a pair of substrates, includes a heater 32 on the inner surface side of at least one 10 of the pair of substrates, across an insulating film 7.
