PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical connector preventing a bare optical fiber from being drawn into the inside of a ferrule at high temperature and to stabilize optical coupling characteristics. SOLUTION: The optical connector 31 includes: a ferrule 38 in which an optical fiber holding hole 37 is formed; and a fixing means 45 fixing a coated optical fiber 19 led from the rear end face of the ferrule 38 into a prescribed bend shape and allows the bare optical fiber 20 to protrude from the top end face 38a of the optical fiber holding hole 37 by the bending force of the coated optical fiber 19, wherein the bare optical fiber 20 is set, in the use state, to a protrusion amount L not retreating from the top end face 38a. The protrusion amount L is preferably set to satisfy L≥(α1-α2)×(T2-T1)×l, whereα1 is taken as the coefficient of thermal expansion of the ferrule 38,α2 as the coefficient of thermal expansion of the bare optical fiber 20, l as the length of a small diameter hole 55 of the ferrule 38 capable of housing the bare optical fiber 20, T1 as the temperature during assembling the optical connector and T2 as the highest temperature when the optical connector is used.
