An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging device that images an object image through an optical system; an image signal processing section having a function of combining a plurality of imaged images into a combined image piece using a given initial value, the imaged images being obtained while the imaging apparatus is moved; a position sensor capable of obtaining the position information of the imaging apparatus; a controller that processes the information of the position sensor to perform collaborative control based on the processing results and processing the results of the image signal processing section, wherein the image signal processing section obtains the relative positional relationship of the images via image recognition; and the controller obtains the positional relationship of the images, specifies the absolute positional relationship of the respective images, and supplies the absolute positional relationship to the image signal processing section as the initial value.
