A projection display device having high efficiency of light utilization and provided with a light source device having a long service life.  A projection display device comprising: first and second light source lamps (11, 12); a light intensity uniformizing element (15); first and second bending mirrors (13, 14); an image display element (61) for modulating a light flux (L3) emitted from the light intensity uniformizing element (15) to convert the light flux into image light (L4); and a projection optical system (62) for projecting the image light onto a screen (63), wherein the first light source lamp (11), the second light source lamp (12), the first bending mirror (13), and the second bending mirror (14) are arranged in such a manner that the first optical axis (11c) of the first light source lamp (11) does not coincide with the second optical axis (12c) of the second light source lamp (12) and that the first distance from the first bending mirror (13) to a light incident end (15a) is different from the second distance from the second bending mirror (14) to the light incident end (15a).
