<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing valve in an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine, achieving remarkable miniaturization and weight reduction of a housing. <P>SOLUTION: This opening and closing valve 6 in the exhaust system for the internal combustion engine includes: the housing 61 having exhaust pipe connection portions 61b, 61c to an exhaust pipe formed at both the opening ends of a valve opening portion 61a; a valve element 62 opening/closing the valve opening portion from an upstream side in an exhaust gas flowing direction; a rotating arm 63 rotatably supporting the valve element; and a rotation operating shaft 64 rotatively operating the rotating arm. The valve element opens or closes the valve opening portion by rotation of the rotating arm. A seating face 61d on which the valve element abuts when the opening and closing valve is closed is provided on the side of the upstream opening end of the valve opening portion in an exhaust gas flow direction so that when the operating valve is opened, the valve element is rotated from the upstream opening end 61e of the valve opening portion in the exhaust gas flowing direction toward the inside of an upstream pipe 2a and arranged inside of the upstream pipe, and a stopper means 11 for receiving the valve element when the opening and closing valve is opened is provided in the upstream pipe with the valve element arranged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
