<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of enhancing the image quality of transmitted video, without extending transmission delays, when multiplexing video and audio encoding data and transmitting the multiplexed data at a fixed bit rate, and capable of shortening the transmission delay, without degrading the image quality of the transmitted video. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for controlling the transmission of a video-audio stream, normally, audio encoding data are transmitted at faster timing, as much as possible, as compared with video encoding data. When a video decoder buffer underflows, the transmission bit rate of the audio decoding data is reduced, and the transmission bit rate of the video encoding data is increased to circumvent the generation of the underflow. After performing the circumvention, the transmission timing of the audio-encoding data is gradually increased; and when the transmission timing is restored to the original transmission timing, the transmission bit rate is restored to the original transmission bit rate. Although the video code amount is suppressed to circumvent the underflow in conventional techniques, the present technique can prevent the image quality of transmitted video from degrading, because the suppression of the video code amount need not be carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
