<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a compact having a deformed U-shaped part with its bottom surface part presenting a recessed curved surface which is recess-curved inwardly along the longitudinal direction in a state of excellent appearance characteristic in one component out of one material with high yield. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An intermediate compact having a flat bottom surface part 21 and the angle formed between the bottom surface part and side surface parts 22, 23 on both sides thereof being an obtuse angle is formed by bending a blank with a straight boundary as a starting point. The intermediate compact is held by a recessed holding face of a punch arranged therein and a projecting holding face of a cushion arranged opposite thereto, and the bottom surface part 21 is deformed in a recess-curved surface, and inserted between die blades with the entire bottom surface part 21 being a leading side, only a part of the side surface parts 22, 23 is passed. A part of the portion not passing through the space between the die blades out of the side surface parts 22, 23 form swollen portions 225, 235 which are outwardly swollen, and the periphery thereof form flat side surface parts 226, 236 erected substantially orthogonal to the bottom surface part 21 to form a deformed U-shaped part 20.
