<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of force in a tangential direction, due to movement to a focus direction, and to prevent excitation of specific resonance of a holder. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An optical pickup apparatus is provided with: a magnet which has different types of two poles in the focus direction of an optical disk; an objective lens which faces a signal recording face of the optical disk; a holder which holds the objective lens so that the objective lens moves in the focus direction and which is arranged in the tangential direction of the optical disk with respect to the magnet; a first focus coil which is arranged between the magnet and the holder so that the holder moves in the focus direction and which takes the tangential direction as a winding axis; and a second focus coil which is arranged between the magnet and the holder and adjacent to the first focus coil so that the force in the tangential direction generated in the first focus coil when the holder moves in the focus direction, becomes smaller, and which takes the tangential direction as the winding axis.
