METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLY-3-HYDROXYALKANOATE

Disclosed is a method for producing a poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate, wherein when a poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate produced in a microorganism is separated and purified commercially, the amount of an organic solvent used therefor is suppressed, while reducing contaminants derived from cell components, and poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate particles having an arbitrary volume average particle diameter are obtained with high productivity.  In the method, after adjusting the organic nitrogen content in an aqueous suspension containing a poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate to 1500 ppm or less relative to the weight of the poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate, the poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate is agglomerated in the aqueous suspension, thereby obtaining an agglomerated poly-3-hydroxyalkanoate.
