<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information code reading device capable of highly precisely comprehending the state of the noise of a pickup image, and effectively performing a noise removal processing suitable for the noise state. <P>SOLUTION: The information code reading device picks up the image of an information code by an image pickup means, generates width value frequency distribution about the width value of a bright color area or a dark color area after binarization in an image configured of the image data, and further detects the distribution characteristics of the generated width value frequency distribution.
